Netflix has announced that its hit original series Bridgerton has been renewed for Seasons 3 and 4. The show quickly got a Season 2 renewal after premiering to huge numbers on Christmas day 2020, and now this news comes before the second season has even finished shooting.

The series’ second season is still set in Regency London, and is currently in production. In keeping with the novels it’s based on, it tells a new romance story, “that of Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest for love.” Sadly for fans of the show, Season 1 star Regé-Jean Page’s character, the Duke of Hastings, will not return for the second season.

Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s VP of global TV, said of the renewal:

“‘Bridgerton’ swept us off our feet. The creative team, led by Shonda, knew the material and delivered a beautiful, emotional, romantic drama for our members. They have some exciting plans for the future, and we think audiences will continue to swoon for this show. We’re planning to be in the ‘Bridgerton’ business for a long time to come.”

This is great news. Bridgerton is a fun and beautifully-made series, and I’m excited to dig into the upcoming seasons. Are you happy it’s going to be around for a while?
