Netflix is Deep in Development on More FEAR STREET Films
Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy, which was based on the book series from R.L. Stine, was a fun horror project that I enjoyed watching. The streaming service was hoping for these films to be a big smash hit like Stranger Things, but the slasher films didn’t quite get to that level of popularity.
I was hoping we’d get to see some more films made, and R.L. Stine previously told Y! that there have been “rumors” of more Fear Street films. He said:
“I…hear rumors about more Fear Street movies for Netflix, because the first ones did so well last summer. Those films kind of shocked me, because they were all R-rated, and I’ve never done anything R-rated! All those teenagers were getting slashed. I was like, ‘Suddenly, I have a slasher movie!’”
I did kind of enjoy the fact that these were R-rated R.L. Stine stories and director Leigh Janiak (Honeymoon) did a good job bringing these stories to life.
Now Bloody-Disgusting is confirming that these rumors are true, and that “Netflix is very deep into development on more Fear Street!” That’s exciting news! Unfortunately, we don’t have any other details to share.
The three films were released over the course of three weeks, and they tell one killer story about the sinister history of the town of Shadyside. In 1994, a group of teenagers discovers that the terrifying events that have haunted their town for generations may all be connected. It’s a murder mystery horror story, and the group of teens that the story centers around may be the next target.
Fear Street: 1994 - In 1994, in the aftermath of a brutal tragedy in Shadyside, Ohio, a group of teens discover that a series of horrifying events that have plagued their town over many years might not be random, and that they may be the next victims.
Fear Street: 1978 - In 1978, Camp Nightwing is divided by the campers and counselors who hail from the of prosperous town of Sunnyvale and the campers and maintenance staffers from the downtrodden town of Shadyside, but when horrors from their towns shared history come alive, they must band together to solve a terrifying mystery before it’s too late.
Fear Street - 1666 - In 1666, a colonial town is gripped by a hysterical witch-hunt that has deadly consequences for centuries to come, and it’s up to teenagers in 1994 to try and finally put an end to their town’s curse, before it’s too late.
Are you excited that we will be getting more Fear Street films?
