Netflix Is Developing a Live-Action COWBOY BEBOP Series!

As Netflix is questing for world domination, they have announced another huge project. They will be producing a live action adaptation of the cult anime series Cowboy Bebop!

The have ordered 10 episodes for the first season, and writer Christopher Yost is involved as a writer and executive producer. He worked on Thor: Ragnarok, Thor: The Dark World, Star Wars Rebels, Hulk Vs, X-Men: Evolution, The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and more. He’s a solid writer, so I’m excited that he’s going to be a part of the development of this space western series.

Cowboy Bebop is the “jazz-inspired, genre-bending story of Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine, and Radical Ed: a rag-tag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals. They’ll even save the world…for the right price.”

I’ve been wondering if anyone would ever get around to adapting this anime. I know for years Hollywood has been trying to get a feature film version off the ground, but I think a series will work so much better. I’m actually pretty excited about this!

Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, Jeff Pinkner, and Scott Rosenberg will executive produce for Midnight Radio and will also serve as showrunners. Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements will executive produce for Tomorrow Studios. Yasuo Miyakawa, Masayuki Ozaki, and Shin Sasaki of Sunrise will also executive produce alongside Tetsu Fujimura and Matthew Weinberg

They’ve also brought on Shinichiro Watanabe, who is the director of the original anime, to work on the series as a consultant.

What do you all think about Netflix producing a live-action Cowboy Bebop series? Do you think they’ll be able to pull it off and give fans something great?
