Netflix Is Developing New DRIVE-Like Vampire Film SMILE with Director William McGregor

Netflix is developing a new vampire movie, which currently has the working title Smile. The movie comes from His Dark Materials director William McGregor, and it’s being produced by The Batman director Matt Reeves.

The movie is described as “a vampire story in the spirit of Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive.” McGregor will also co-write the film with Helen Kingston, who previously wrote the 2019 Lena Headey movie The Flood. This actually sounds like the movie will tell a cool story!

Smile follows teenager Millie, “whose life is turned upside-down when she’s bitten by a vampire while traveling to LA with her school. Wanting nothing more than to be human again, Millie learns she can reverse the process if she is able to kill the man who bit her before the next sunrise.”

This seems like the kind of movie I’d enjoy, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it turns out!
