Netflix is Developing an Adaptation of the Fantasy Book Series SHADOW AND BONE with Writer of BIRD BOX

Netflix is set to develop and eight-episode series based on Leigh Bardugo’s bestselling fantasy series Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows, which are set in the same Grishaverse universe.

The show is being developed by Eric Heisserer, who wrote Netflix’s Bird Box, as well as Shawn Levy, the producer and director of Stranger Things. Heisserer will also serve as showrunner. If you’re not familiar with the books, here’s a little description:

Shadow and Bone brings together the stories and characters of both Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows, two overlapping series that take place in Bardugo’s Grishaverse. In a world cleaved in two by a massive barrier of perpetual darkness, where unnatural creatures feast on human flesh, a young soldier uncovers a power that might finally unite her country. But as she struggles to hone her power, dangerous forces plot against her. Thugs, thieves, assassins and saints are at war now, and it will take more than magic to survive.

I’ve never read the books, but this certainly seems like it will be the kind of show that I’d enjoy watching! There’s some solid talent working on the series and with Netflix backing it, there’s a good chance that it’s going to end up being great!

Have any of you read these books? Does it sound like a series that you’d want to watch?
