Netflix Is Reviving UNSOLVED MYSTERIES with STRANGER THINGS Producer Shawn Levy

One of my favorite shows to watch when I was growing up was the Robert Stack-hosted true crime and paranormal series Unsolved Mysteries. I was fascinated by that show, and I’ve recently been watching episodes again on Amazon Prime.

I’m excited to report that Netflix is looking to revive the series! Stranger Things director and producer Shawn Levy is behind the revival. and he will be overseeing the revamp.

Deadline revealed that this will be a 12-part show that, like the original, “will use re-enactments in a documentary format to profile real-life mysteries and unsolved crimes, lost love, cases involving missing persons and unexplained paranormal events.” Each of the episodes will focus on one mystery.

Unsolved Mysteries ran on NBC between 1987 and 1997. CBS picked it up for two years after it was cancelled. Lifetime then aired a number of new episodes in 2001/2002 .and then Spike picked it up between 2008 and 2010 with Dennis Farina replacing Stack. Over 500 Unsolved Mysteries episodes have aired over this time.

Fans will also be happy to learn that the original creators of the series, John Cosgrove and Terry Dunn Meurer, will be involved as executive producers. They’ve been pushing this series to happen for awhile, so it’s great to see that they are getting a chance to move forward with it!

Are you excited to hear that Unsolved Mysteries is being revived? Did you ever watch this show when you were growing up?
