Netflix Plans to Shoot Two RED NOTICE Sequels Back-to-Back
The Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds heist action thriller Red Notice was a huge hit for Netflix. It’s their biggest film yet, and now the streaming service is doubling down with two sequels that they will shoot back-to-back.
Netflix will bring back the three lead actors to star in the sequels, and they hope to start production in 2023. It all depends on if they can work out the schedules with the three stars who are all crazy busy with other projects. But, you can bet that Netflix is going to pay them the big bucks to come back.
Universal Pictures was originally attached to the film project with Legendary Pictures, but when Universal got cold feet due to the budget, they ditched the project and Netflix picked it up. I can’t help but think that studio is kicking themselves in the ass for letting the movie get away.
Beau Flynn will return to produce the sequels alongside Dwayne Johnson, Hiram Garcia, and Dany Garcia. The director of the first film, Rawson Marshall Thurber, is also producing through his Bad Version Productions. I assume he will also return to direct.
Netflix obviously has a lot of confidence in this franchise and I hope that the two sequels end up being just as fun as the first movie. If you watched the first movie, did you enjoy it? Are you excited that we are getting a couple of sequels?
