Netflix Renews ALICE IN BORDERLAND for Season 3
Netflix has announced that they have officially renewed the dystopian Japanese thriller series Alice in Borderland for a third season. The news was dropped by Netflix's VP of APAC content, Kim Minyoung, during the APOS conference.
The live-action show is based on the manga series of the same name, which was created by Aso Haro. The story centers on a character named Arisu, who suddenly finds himself in a strange, emptied-out version of Tokyo in which he and his friends must compete in dangerous games in order to survive. The games are divided into four categories represented by suits on a deck of playing cards.
If you haven’t watched the first two seasons of Alice in Borderland yet, you should. This has been an incredibly entertaining series that I’ve enjoyed, and I’m happy to hear that we are going to be getting a third season! I can’t wait to see how this next chapter of the story plays out!
It was also confirmed that Sato Shinsuke will return to direct the third season. The streaming service explains that hiring the director will ensure “that the series maintains its trademark intensity and cinematic excellence.” Sato has also previously worked on films such as Gantz, Inuyashiki, and Death Note: Light Up the New World. He also worked on TV projects such as Kingdom and a Death Note mini-series.
It was also confirmed that Yamazaki Kento and Tsuchiya Tao will be reprising their roles as Arisu and Usagi. When talking about the next chapter of the story, Netflix said: “Fans can look forward to witnessing the evolution of their characters in the ever-dangerous landscape of Borderland.”
