Netflix Renews CASTLEVANIA: NOCTURNE for Season 2!

Netflix has ordered a second season of Castlevania: Nocturne, and they released a video making the announcement! The news comes only eight days after Season 1 premiered on the streaming service.

I’m in the middle of watching the series right now, and it’s freakin’ awesome! I love what they are doing with this show and the story they are telling. The creative team is doing great stuff with this franchise!

Showrunners Clive Bradley and Kevin Kolde said in a statement: “Thanks to all of the Castlevania fans old and new for the amazing response and support! We are excited to be able to bring you more Castlevania: Nocturne and the next chapter in the rise of Richter Belmont.”

During its first five days of its release, the anime series cracked Netflix’s Top 10 English TV list. Studios Project 51 Productions and Powerhouse Animation will return to produce Season 2, with Sam Deats and Adam Deats also returning to direct.

In the series, “The gory and gothic adventures of the Castlevania franchise continue with an exciting new setting and their highest stakes yet. A gripping story of love and loss, Nocturne marks an evolution to the original fan-favorite Castlevania Netflix Series. Featuring a never before seen origin story of Richter Belmont (gaming icon, and one of the Franchise’s most beloved characters).”

The series is set hundreds of years after the events of the first series and it follows the character Richter, “a descendant of the Belmont family, popularized in the iconic Symphony of Night and Blood of Rondo Castlevania games.”

Richter is a descendant of vampire slayer Trevor Belmont and the mage Sypha Belnades. The story is set in 1792 and it will tell the story of his vampire-hunting adventures during the French Revolution. Richter will be joined by Maria Renard, another familiar character from the games. She is a powerful magic user with her own distant connection to the Belmont legacy. She appeared alongside Richter as a young girl in Castlevania: Rondo of Blood.

Nocturne stars the voices of Edward Bluemel as Richter Belmont, Pixie Davies as Maria Renard, Thuso Mbedu as Annette, Nastassja Kinski as Tera Renard, Sydney James Harcourt as Edouard, Richard Dormer as the Abbot Emmanuel, Aaron Neil as Mizrak, Franka Potente as Erzsebet Báthory/Sekhmet, Elarica Johnson as Drolta Tzuentes, Sophie Skelton as Julia Belmont, and Iain Glen as Juste Belmont. Additionally, James Callis reprises his role as Alucard from the previous Castlevania series.
