Netflix Renews Guy Ritchie's THE GENTLEMEN For Season 2
Netflix has renewed Guy Ritchie’s crime series The Gentlemen for Season 2. The first season was a lot of fun, so it’s great to see that the story will continue for one more season.
Theo James, Kaya Scodelario and Daniel Ings have signed on to reprise their roles for the eight-episode second installment of the hit series.
Ritchie, who actually earned an Emmy nomination for his directing work in Season 1, is set to return to direct, and he is also writing the series with Matthew Read.
Set in the world of Ritchie’s 2019 Miramax film of the same name, the series’ first season centered on Eddie Horniman (James) who unexpectedly inherits his father’s sizeable country estate – only to discover it’s part of a cannabis empire.
Moreover, a host of unsavory characters from Britain’s criminal underworld want a piece of the operation. Determined to extricate his family from their clutches, Eddie tries to play the gangsters at their own game.
However, as he gets sucked into the world of criminality, he begins to find a taste for it, with an unexpected ally found in the sophisticated yet ruthless Susie Glass (Scodelario).
When previously talking about the possibility of The Gentlemen Season 2, James said: “It wasn’t genuinely discussed. I think it would be a wrangling process with all of us and Guy.
“But also, I think with a show like this, if you’re going to do more, you need to come up with a really interesting concept for Season 2. Because as much as we enjoyed it and as fun as it was, it needs narrative drive.”
Filming on Season 2 is set to begin next year.
