Netflix Renews Keri Russell's Political Drama Series THE DIPLOMAT For Season 2

Netflix recently dropped the first season of its political drama series The Diplomat, but they’ve already renewed it for a second season! That first season obviously has a strong debut and they are now committed to continuing the story.

Keri Russell stars in the series as Kate Wyler, and this is the description of the series: “Kate Wyler was supposed to go to Afghanistan. She’s great in a crisis zone. In a historic home… less so. War is brewing on one continent and boiling over on another. Kate will have to diffuse international crises, forge strategic alliances in London, and adjust to her new place in the spotlight — all while trying to survive her marriage to fellow career diplomat and political star Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell).”

I haven’t had a chance to start watching the series yet, but I’ll get around to it shortly. I’ve been hearing great things, and it looks like a solid show!

Jinny Howe, vice president of Netflix’s drama series said in a statement: “Fans around the world are loving every minute of The Diplomat’s gripping and propulsive drama, and embracing Keri Russell’s powerful performance as Kate Wyler. After that jaw-dropping cliffhanger, we can’t wait for them to see what the amazing visionary team of Debora Cahn, Janice Williams and Keri Russell have in store for Season 2.”

Debora Cahn, creator and showrunner for the series, added: “We had such a great time making ‘The Diplomat,’ it’s a thrill to see how much people are enjoying it. We’re so glad we get to do it again!”

The ensemble cast also features David Gyasi, Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear and Ato Essandoh. Have you watched the series yet? If so, what do you think about it?
