Netflix Renews SHADOW AND BONE for a Second Season
I’ve got some exciting news for fans of Netflix’s Shadow and Bone fantasy series! The streaming service has renewed the show for a second season! I thought the first season was absolutely fantastic, and I couldn’t be more excited that we will get to see the story continue for another season. The series is based on the best-selling Grishaverse book series by Leigh Bardugo.
Executive producer and showrunner Eric Heisserer and the main cast are set to return for Season 2. That cast consists of Jessie Mei Li, Archie Renaux, Freddy Carter, Amita Suman, Kit Young, Danielle Galligan, Calahan Skogman, and Ben Barnes. Shawn Levy is also returning to executive produce with his company 21 Laps Entertainment, and Bardugo will also be back as an executive producer.
Heisserer said in a statement, “I’m honored and thrilled to return to the Grishaverse and continue the stories of these endearing characters, particularly Milo.”
Bardugo added, “I’ve been writing in the Grishaverse for nearly ten years now, so I’m thrilled we get to keep this adventure going. There are so many places we’ve barely gotten to visit and I can’t wait to introduce our audience to more of the saints, soldiers, thugs, thieves, princes and privateers who make this world so much fun to explore. It’s going to be real magic to see our brilliant, talented cast expand.”
Shadow and Bone is set in a war-torn world “where lowly soldier and orphan Alina Starkov has just unleashed an extraordinary power that could be the key to setting her country free. With the monstrous threat of the Shadow Fold looming, Alina is torn from everything she knows to train as part of an elite army of magical soldiers known as Grisha. But as she struggles to hone her power, she finds that allies and enemies can be one and the same and that nothing in this lavish world is what it seems. There are dangerous forces at play, including a crew of charismatic criminals, and it will take more than magic to survive."
If you haven’t watched the first season yet, you should. If you enjoy stories set in fantasy worlds, this is a good one worth your time.
