Netflix Renews The Robert Downey Jr. Produced Adventure Series SWEET TOOTH For Season 2
Netflix enjoyed the success of the first season of its fantasy adventure series Sweet Tooth and they have renewed the show for a second season! I thought the first season of this show was great and I was hoping that we’d get to see the story continue. Luckily, Netflix made the decision to keep it going! Here’s the announcement:
The series is an adaptation of DC Vertigo’s comic series Sweet Tooth that comes from producers Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey. The story follows a hybrid deer-boy named Gus (Christian Convery) and a wandering loner named Tommy Jepperd (Nonso Anozie). Together they embark on a wild and dangerous adventure searching for the meaning of home.
The comic was created by Jeff Lemire and here’s the synopsis: "Ten years ago 'The Great Crumble' wreaked havoc on the world and led to the mysterious emergence of hybrids — babies born part human, part animal. Unsure if hybrids are the cause or result of the virus, many humans fear and hunt them. After a decade of living safely in his secluded forest home, a sheltered hybrid deer-boy named Gus unexpectedly befriends a wandering loner named Jepperd. Together they set out on an extraordinary adventure across what’s left of America in search of answers— about Gus' origins, Jepperd's past, and the true meaning of home. But their story is full of unexpected allies and enemies, and Gus quickly learns the lush, dangerous world outside the forest is more complex than he ever could have imagined."
I’m looking forward to seeing this story continue and I hope that the creative team behind the series gets to tell the full story that they set out to deliver.
The series is executive produced, written, and directed by Jim Mickle, who is also co-showrunner alongside Beth Schwartz.
