Netflix Reportedly Developing a CRASH BANDICOOT Animated Series
Looks like the iconic orange marsupial is gearing up for another adventure, and this time, he’s crashing onto Netflix.
According to a report from What’s On Netflix, the streamer is reportedly developing an animated Crash Bandicoot series with animation studio WildBrain, which is the same team behind Sonic Prime, Carmen Sandiego, and The Snoopy Show.
While Netflix hasn’t made an official announcement yet, the project is said to be quietly in development, hinting that we might be seeing more of Wumpa Island soon.
WildBrain has been keeping busy in the world of animation, having recently wrapped up Sonic Prime (2022–2024). With that series proving there’s still plenty of life in video game adaptations, Crash Bandicoot seems like the perfect next stop.
If this report is true, it would mark Crash’s first-ever solo series. The wild marsupial did make a brief cameo in Netflix’s Skylanders Academy, though fans were less than thrilled about his unexpected Australian accent.
Here’s hoping that, this time, Crash sticks to what he does best with running, spinning, and collecting Wumpa fruit while causing absolute chaos.
It’s been a long road for Crash Bandicoot. First bursting onto the scene in 1996 as a PlayStation mascot from Naughty Dog, the franchise went on to become a beloved classic, later revived with the N. Sane Trilogy in 2017 and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time in 2021.
There was even an Amazon Studios adaptation in the works a few years ago, but that project was ultimately scrapped in 2021. Now, with Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision, the bandicoot’s next spin looks set for Netflix.
With gaming adaptations becoming a major force on streaming platforms, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before we get Crash Bandicoot show. Whether he talks this time or lets his signature “Whoa!” do all the work, one thing’s certain there’s potential for this to be fast, chaotic, and a ton of fun for longtime fans.
