Netflix Teases the Possibility of a STRANGER THINGS Spin-Off

At this week’s Code Conference, Netflix’s Co-CEO Ted Sarandos talked all things Netflix-related. He released some graphics that broke down the most popular original movies and shows that have appeared on the streamer this past year, and he even gave a little tease about one of the most largely followed series on Netflix, Stranger Things.

Deadline reported that when he was asked about the series, “Sarandos was straightforward and coy almost simultaneously.” He replied, “Franchises are good, but what you want are hits.” Stranger Things is “a franchise being born,” Sarandos said, and hinted at “spinoffs.” There has been talk that star Millie Bobby Brown could be taking lead in an extension of the Duffer Bros. universe under the terms of her own big Netflix deal.

The Duffer Bros., who created the hit series, have long said that they will not continue to pump out the seasons of the show just because it has a big fanbase. They have an endgame in mind, and they hope to be able to let it fully play out in the next couple/few seasons.

When Millie Bobby Brown was asked by Elle Magazine what she hoped for pertaining to the future of her character, she said:

"I hope she finds who she is, without a boy, a male influence in her life. There's Mike and Papa and Hopper and all the boys really. Even without Max, she needs to find herself by herself. Everyone needs that moment in life to sit there and think, 'Who am I as a person, who am I without everyone around me? How can I really love myself?' I don't know if she knows how to do that yet. So I would like an arc for Eleven to learn how to love herself and learn who she is, which is hard in the circumstances she's in. I think that she needs a little self journey."

I hope she gets to see Eleven get to a truly happy place in her life, and I hope the Duffer Bros. get to tell the full story they set out to tell. Stranger Things Season 4 is set to hit Netflix sometime in 2022. Would you like to see a series spin-off starring Eleven?
