Netflix’s ALICE IN BORDERLAND Season 3 Trailer Unleashes Deadlier Games with a New Story

The death games are far from over. Netflix just dropped the trailer for Alice in Borderland Season 3 and it’s diving headfirst into uncharted territory with a fresh storyline, deadly new games, and a twisted mystery tied to the Joker card.

Fans of the manga might think the story wrapped with Season 2, but the series is kicking the door wide open for more chaos in the Borderland.

Premiering on September 25, Alice in Borderland returns with Kento Yamazaki as Arisu and Tao Tsuchiya as Usagi. This time, they're pulled back into the surreal and violent game world, despite having supposedly escaped it at the end of Season 2.

The Joker card teased in the finale now takes center stage, setting up a whole new arc that wasn’t part of Haro Aso’s original manga. This is the first time the series will explore an original story built just for the show.

The trailer gives us a peek at a brutal new set of games, mysterious new characters, and the return of Borderland’s psychological mind-warp. While Season 2 hinted that more survivors might have escaped, the new footage suggests Arisu and Usagi could be the only ones making a comeback. Fan-favorite Shuntaro Chishiya is still MIA, leaving us wondering who else made it out... or who might return.

Season 3 marks a major milestone too. Not only is it the first Japanese-language Netflix Original to get a third season, it also continues to be one of the platform’s most-watched titles from Japan.

Netflix dropped this cryptic and ominous synopsis to set the tone: “In the previous season, Arisu (Kento Yamazaki) and Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya) cleared all of the games and returned to the real world,” the synopsis begins.

“They have since gotten married and established a happy life together. Their memories of the borderland were erased, but they see glimpses of it in dreams and hallucinations.

“One day, Usagi, led by afterlife researcher Ryuji (Kento Kaku), suddenly vanishes. At the same time as Usagi’s disappearance, Banda (Hayato Isomura) hands Arisu the final card: the Joker. The uncharted journey led by the mysterious Joker card is about to unfold…”

This new arc seems to be pulling from some deep psychological horror elements, blending dream logic with the high-stakes survival games the series is known for.

The countdown is on for Alice in Borderland Season 3. I’m a fan of this show, so I’m excited to see what this next season will deliver!
