Netflix's COWBOY BEBOP Starts Production and a New Video Introduces Ein

Netflix has started production on their live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop, and they’ve released a behind-the-scenes video featuring the dog who will take on the role of Ein.

We also get to see the cast of the film meeting up for what looks like a little table read. The cast for the series includes Jon Cho as Spike Spiegel and Elena Satine as Julia, along with Mustafa Shakir (Luke Cage) as Jet Black, Daniella Pineda (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) as Faye Valentin, and Alex Hassell (Suburbicon) as Vicious.

Cowboy Bebop is the “jazz-inspired, genre-bending story of Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine, and Radical Ed: a rag-tag crew of bounty hunters on the run from their pasts as they hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals. They’ll even save the world…for the right price.”

The first season of the Cowboy Bebop series will consist of ten episodes. Christopher Yost is involved as a writer and executive producer. He previously worked on Thor: Ragnarok, Thor: The Dark World, Star Wars Rebels, Hulk Vs, X-Men: Evolution, The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and more.

Here are the descriptions of the characters in the series that have been previously released.

Cho’s character Spike Spiegel is described as “an impossibly cool bounty hunter with a deadly smile, a wry wit, and style to spare. He travels the solar system with his ex-cop partner, Jet, pursuing the future’s most dangerous bounties with a combination of charm, charisma — and deadly Jeet Kune Do.”

Satine‘s Julia is described as a sultry beauty and is said to have a voice to die for, “Julia is the dream-like object of Spike Spiegel’s (Cho) desire. She struggles to survive in a violent world.”

Shakir will play Jet Black, “one of the few honest cops in the solar system before an ultimate betrayal robbed him of all that he loved, forcing him into a vagabond life of hunting bounties to put food on the table. Jet is an inveterate jazz enthusiast and Captain of the Bebop.”

Pineda will play Faye Valentine, who is described as “a bold, brash and unpredictable bounty hunter. Suffering from amnesia after years of being cryogenically frozen, Faye does whatever it takes to survive. Whether she’s lying, stealing, or just being a thorn in Spike and Jet’s side.”

As for Hassell, he will play Vicious, “a man who thoroughly enjoys a good kill, Vicious is the Syndicate’s most notorious hitman. He’s also Spike Spiegel’s ex-partner and arch-enemy.”
