Netflix’s RUNNING POINT Season 2 Trailer Turns Up the Rivalry

Running Point is stepping back onto the court, and this time the stakes feel a lot more personal.

Netflix just released the first trailer for Running Point Season 2, giving fans a fresh look at where things are headed after last season’s fallout.

The basketball comedy is leaning harder into the power struggle at the heart of the story, with Kate Hudson and Jason Theroux returning to lead the charge, alongside a stacked lineup of new and familiar faces.

Season 2, which premieres April 23, picks up with Isla Gordon refusing to be seen as a temporary solution. After the chaos surrounding her brother Cam last season, she’s now fully in control of the Los Angeles Waves and determined to prove she belongs there. But that control isn’t exactly secure.

Cam, played by Theroux, hasn’t let go of his position. He’s lurking in the background, watching closely and waiting for Isla to slip. Every mistake becomes part of his strategy as he works toward taking back what he believes is his.

The trailer teases that this sibling rivalry is about to get messy, mixing sharp comedy with the kind of tension that makes every boardroom decision feel like a game-winning shot.

The show’s creative team remains a major draw. The series comes from Elaine Ko, Mindy Kaling, David Stassen, and Ike Barinholtz, who also pops up on screen this season.

Season 2 also expands its roster with some fun guest appearances. Octavia Spencer, Lisa Rinna, Nicole Richie, and Scott Speedman all show up, adding new energy to the already lively ensemble.

They join returning cast members like Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Brenda Song, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, Toby Sandeman, and Uche Agada.

The guest list keeps going with appearances from Ray Romano, Max Greenfield, Jay Ellis, Roberto Sanchez, Jon Glaser, Scott Evans, Rob Huebel, Marissa Reyes, Blake Anderson, Ken Marino, Tommy Dewey, Richa Moorjani, Aliyah Turner, and Jake Picking.

What the trailer makes clear is that Running Point isn’t just about basketball anymore. It’s about control, ego, family, and proving your worth when everyone expects you to fail. Isla’s not interested in holding the seat for anyone, and Cam isn’t ready to give it up.
