Neve Campbell Confirms She’ll Return for SCREAM 8 as the Next Movie Remains in Development

Ghostface isn’t finished with Sidney Prescott just yet. Neve Campbell has confirmed that she’ll be back for Scream 8, even though the next installment in the hit horror franchise is still in the early stages of development.

The actress recently spoke with the Associated Press and revealed that another Scream movie is on her schedule, saying she has “Scream 8; that’s in the pipeline as well.”

When pressed for more details, Campbell kept things short and simple. “You know I can’t tell you anything about Scream 8,” said the actress, “I’ll be in it.”

That’s good news for longtime fans who want to see more of Sidney Prescott, now Sidney Evans, taking on Ghostface. While Campbell seems ready to return, Spyglass Media and Paramount still have some work to do. Scream 8 doesn’t have a director attached yet, and the project remains in development.

Campbell has appeared in six of the franchise’s seven films, sitting out 2023’s Scream VI before making her big comeback in Scream 7 earlier this year.

Her return proved to be a major success. The seventh film delivered the biggest worldwide opening in the franchise’s 30-year history, bringing in $97.2 million. It also went on to become the highest-grossing Scream movie to date, earning $208 million worldwide.

Scream 7 caught up with Sidney as a married woman and mother whose attempts to build a life away from Ghostface were once again interrupted. This time, the killer targeted her daughter, Tatum, forcing Sidney back into another deadly confrontation.

The sequel also brought back familiar franchise faces, including Courteney Cox and Matthew Lillard, giving longtime fans a few more reasons to revisit the series.

As for where the story goes next, that's still a mystery. What we do know is that Lilla Zuckerman and Nora Zuckerman are writing the screenplay for Scream 8.

The sisters most recently served as showrunners on Peacock’s acclaimed series Poker Face. Their previous television credits also include writing and co-executive producing work on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Suits, Fringe, and Prodigal Son.

After seven movies, you'd think Sidney would have earned a break from masked killers. Apparently, these Ghostface killers aren’t going to stop until one of them finally finishes her off. Which will be never!
