New Amazon Luna Upgrade is Small Step Towards Massive Improvement for the Cloud Gaming Service

Amazon and Ubisoft recently made an announcement that could really improve Amazon Luna. In case you’re not familiar with it, Amazon Luna is Amazon’s cloud gaming service. I recently wrote a review of it and I definitely found that it could use some help. Some of that help may very well be on the horizon. The announcement from Amazon and Ubisoft is that you can now play select Ubisoft titles that you own from the Ubisoft Store (affiliate link). Before this, Luna gamers were only able to play games on the Channels that they were subscribed to. Now, if you own select games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 6, or even Uno on PC through the Ubisoft Store, you can now play those via the cloud without subscribing to a specific channel. This is great!

All you have to do is have Amazon Prime, have supported games bought through the Ubisoft Store, link your Ubisoft and Luna accounts, and you’re good to go. This lessens the need for a powerful gaming machine which is always nice. Unfortunately, neither company has released a comprehensive list of titles supported, but here’s a list of all the games mentioned from both of them as well as what I was able to see when I linked my accounts. Let us know if you find additional titles available in the comments below.

  • Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China

  • Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India

  • Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia

  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

  • Assassin’s Creed Origins

  • Assassin’s Creed Unity

  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

  • Far Cry 3

  • Far Cry 4

  • Far Cry 5

  • Far Cry 6

  • Immortals Fenyx Rising

  • Rainbow Six Extraction

  • Rainbow Six Siege

  • Starlink: Battle for Atlas

  • Trials Rising

  • Uno

  • Watch Dogs

  • Watch Dogs 2

  • Watch Dogs Legion

Overall, this doesn’t fix all the problems with Luna. It still has a fairly clunky UI, but knowing Amazon that will never be addressed, just look at Prime Video. I do really like this move and hope that Luna is able to expand on this. If we could add games from Epic or Steam libraries, that would be huge! It should be noted that when you go to play, you may have to wait, particularly during peak hours as they don’t have infinite machines, but if you upgrade to Luna+, your wait will be shorter. This is similar to GeForce NOW and so while I’m not a fan of the queue system, it’s not unheard of. What do you think about this announcement for Luna?
