Amazon Horror Series LORE Casts Former UFC Fighter Cathal Pendred in Lead Role
The upcoming Amazon series based on the popular horror podcast Lore now has its lead. Deadline reports that former UFC fighter Cathal Pendred has been cast as the lead in the series. Pendred has appeared in other TV series like Ray Donovan and Into The Badlands, but this is his first major role since retiring from professional mixed martial arts.
The report describes Pendred's character and the role he'll play in Lore:
"Pendred will play Michael Cleary, a real-life character from Irish folklore in the horror anthology series. A cooper who makes barrels for a local creamery, Michael is married to the younger Bridget. When Bridget starts making more money than he does, and starts questioning his decisions, Michael is convinced that his loving wife has been replaced by a changeling — and he will do literally anything to prove himself right."
Pendred joins Robert Patrick, who was cast back in March. Lore is being produced by podcast creator Aaron Mahnke, Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead) and Propagate’s Ben Silverman. Lore will get a 10-episode first season and it is expected to start shooting later this year or in early 2018.
The very popular podcast recounts true stories of frightening and paranormal occurrences. Mahnke launched the podcast in March 2015 and reaches more than 3.2 million monthly listens in just over a year.
