New BATMAN V SUPERMAN Details on Doomsday and the "Do You Bleed" Scene
Last year it was reportedly confirmed that Doomsday would be one the main villains in Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It wasn't hard to believe that Doomsday would appear in the movie, we just weren't sure how big of a role he would end up playing in the story. Thanks to Umberto Gonzalez, a.k.a. El Mayimbe, we have some additional details on Doomsday's involvement in the film.
I'll go ahead and throw out a SPOILER warning just in case. If you don't want to know anything, don't read any further. The following information was revealed on the ShanlianOnBatman Podcast.
Gonzalez compared Doomsday's role in the story to Darth Vader in Star Wars, who was basically the main henchman of Grand Moff Tarkin, the brains behind the construction of the Death Star. Doomsday is described as muscle in Dawn of Justice, and I assume he's working for Lex Luthor, who will serve as the film’s main villain. As you know, Luthor isn't really a threat physically unless he’s wearing that green and purple exosuit from the comics.
Gonzales went on to say that the live action version of Doomsday looks "incredible." He's posted several pieces of concept art from the film over the last month, so it's believable that he has seen what DC Entertainment and Snyder are planning for the character.
An interesting SPOILER was also revealed during the conversation. Apparently, the "Do You Bleed" scene in the film that we've seen in the trailer is actually a dream sequence, and it's not really happening. So will we see Batman and Superman really fight in the film? Hopefully! That's what the studios marketing campaign seems to be built around.
Regardless of what happens between these two heroic characters, they will eventually come together to try and take down Lex Luthor and Doomsday. I doubt that it will play out like what we've seen in the comics, though, judging by where Warner Bros. wants to take the DC cinematic universe. It's not like they are already going to kill off Superman.
I included the podcast below, and the conversation regarding this information starts around 38:00 minute mark.
