New BTS Featurette For STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER Shows How The Sand Chase Scene Was Created
Lucasfilm has released another behind-the-scenes featurette for J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. This one gives us a look at how the sand chase scene from the film was created and came together. It shows Abrams and Oscar Isaac planning the shot out together and it shows what it was actually like for them as they shot it.
Regardless of what you think about this film, it’s always fun to get a peek at the process that goes into making a movie. Entertainment Weekly debuted the video ahead of The Rise of Skywalker‘s home video release, which drops later this month. When talking about shooting the scene, Isaac said:
“For me it was the most fun I’ve had, but it’s a bit challenging because they’d have fans [blowing] as well, so you just have all this sand getting into your eyes. I would go home after some days and just tons of sand would be pouring out of my hair.”
The clip is one of the special features that will be on the upcoming home release of the film which arrives digitally in HD, and 4K Ultra HD on March 17, 2020. It will then get a physical release on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on March 31, 2020.
