New CASPER Trailer Released Ahead of 30th Anniversary Re-Release in Theaters
Casper The Friendly Ghost is set to haunt the big screen again this fall. Universal Pictures just dropped a brand-new trailer for the 1995 family favorite Casper, celebrating its 30th anniversary with a theatrical re-release on October 3rd.
Directed by Brad Silberling, in his feature film debut, the movie was a 90s kid essential that gave us a spooky, heartwarming story that was packed with ghostly fun.
Casper stars Bill Pullman as ghost therapist Dr. Harvey and Christina Ricci as his daughter Kat, who move into a creaky mansion only to discover it’s inhabited by a lonely young ghost and his chaotic uncles.
“‘Can I keep you?’” That unforgettable line still hits. In the story, the Harveys encounter Casper, voiced by Malachi Pearson, a friendly ghost with a big heart who’s just looking for a friend.
“They also have to deal with the trio of wild and hilarious uncles - Stretch, Stinkie, and Fatso - voiced by Joe Nipote, Joe Alasky, and Brad Garrett, respectively.
The cast is loaded with comedic talent including Cathy Moriarty, Eric Idle, Ben Stein, and memorable cameos like Father Guido Sarducci (Don Novello) and The Crypt Keeper (John Kassir). For many of us who grew up in the 90s, Casper wasn’t just a movie, it was the kid-friendly ghost story of the era.
The film was written by Sherri Stoner and Deanna Oliver, based on the beloved Harvey Comics character created by Seymour Reit and Joe Oriolo. Colin Wilson produced the film, and it originally hit theaters during the summer of 1995.
Whether you're revisiting it for nostalgia or introducing it to a new generation, this re-release is a perfect excuse to experience the charm of Casper all over again, this time on the big screen.
