New Casting and Character Details For Showtime's DEXTER Revival Series

Showtime has announced the rest of the main cast for its upcoming Dexter revival series. Julia Jones (The Mandalorian), Alano Miller (Sylvie’s Love), Johnny Sequoyah (Believe) and Jack Alcott (The Good Lord Bird) will join the previously cast Michael C. Hall and Clancy Brown.

We also have some descriptions of the characters that these actors will be playing. “Jones will play Angela Bishop, the first Native American Chief of Police in her town in upstate New York. Sequoyah portrays Audrey, Bishop’s brash and opinionated teenage daughter. Miller will play Logan, a sergeant for the Iron Lake Police Department and the assistant wrestling coach for the local high school. Alcott is Randall, with whom Dexter (Hall) has a meaningful encounter.”

Brown will be playing a character named Kurt Caldwell, the primary villain of the show. The character is described as the “unofficial mayor of the small town of Iron Lake. He’s realized the American dream by going from driving big rigs, just like his father did, to now owning several trucks and the local truck stop. Powerful, generous, loved by everyone – he’s a true man of the people. If he’s got your back, consider yourself blessed. But should you cross Kurt, or hurt anyone that he cares for, God help you.”

It was previously revealed that Kurt’s son Matthew “has created many ‘messes’ over the years, messes that are cleaned up by Kurt with the wealth he has amassed throughout his lifetime.”

Hall previously talked about why he wanted to revisit the character after all this time and also explained that this will be a way to give fans a more satisfying ending:

“It’s a conversation that’s been ongoing, and different possibilities have emerged over the years. I think in this case, the story that’s being told is worth telling in a way that other proposals didn’t, and I think enough time has passed where it’s become intriguing in a way that it wasn’t before. And let’s be real: people found the way that show left things pretty unsatisfying, and there’s always been a hope that a story would emerge that would be worth telling. I include myself in the group of people that wondered, “What the hell happened to that guy?” So I’m excited to step back into it. I’ve never had that experience of playing a character this many years on.”

Showrunner Clyde Phillips has returned for this 10-episode revival and it’s going to be great to see Dexter back in action after all these years! The series starts shooting next month in Massachusetts.
