CHAINSAW MAN Promo Art Pays Homage To KILL BILL, THE SHINING, A CLOCKWORK ORANGE and JURASSIC PARK
Chainsaw Man is such an awesome anime series! I’ve been enjoying the hell out of it and I especially love all of the classic movie references and other pop culture references. It’s just so much damn fun!
Anyway, some cool new promo art has surfaced for the series that I wanted to share because it pays homage to some classic films such as Kill Bill, The Shining, A Clockwork Orange, and Jurassic Park! There’s also a little Baby Metal Easter egg in there with the Baby Metal Fox sign, and if you don’t know who Baby Metal is and you’re into heavy metal, you’ve got to check them out! The promo art is for the upcoming Blu-ray set.
In the series, “The world is one ravaged by Devils, otherworldly monsters who feed on human fear. Despite their antagonistic nature, humans can actually form alliances with these Devils and gain powers of their own. The protagonist, a downtrodden young man named Denji, works to clear his father's massive debt to the yakuza.”
Anyway, the season finale is only a few weeks out and the first season will consist of 12 episodes total. Some of the other pop culture references in the series include The Big Lebowski, Pulp Fiction, and Attack of The Killer Tomatoes, and that’s just in the opening sequence! There are a lot more!
The Chainsaw Man manga was created, written, and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto, and the series was directed by Ryū Nakayama (Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia; The Rising of the Shield Hero).
The voice cast includes Kikunosuke Toya as Denji, Tomori Kusunoki (Natsume in Deca-Dence) as Makima, Shogo Sakata (Karin Sasaki in Fire Force) as Aki Hayakawa, and Fairouz Ai (Jolyne Kujo in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean) as Power
Additional Chainsaw Man credits include screenplay by Hiroshi Seko (Attack on Titan Final Season; Mob Psycho 100; Banana Fish), character design by Kazutaka Sugiyama (Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation), devil design by Kiyotaka Oshiyama (The Wind Rises; The Secret World of Arrietty; Space Dandy), art direction by Yusuke Takeda (Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-; Sword Art Online; Penguin Highway), and music composed by Kensuke Ushio (The Heike Story; Devilman: Crybaby; Space Dandy).
