Director Michael Chaves adds to that, saying that David Fincher’s Se7en was a big reference point when developing the story. The whole goal was to take Vera Farmiga’s Lorraine Warren and Patrick Wilson’s Ed Warren out of a haunted house and set them loose on an investigative journey.

One of the most sensational cases from their files, it starts with a fight for the soul of a young boy, then takes them beyond anything they’d ever seen before, to mark the first time in U.S. history that a murder suspect would claim demonic possession as a defense.”
The film comes from producer James Wan and director Michael Chaves, and it will be released on June 4th, 2021.
