New Chinese Robot Film Rips Off The Beloved Classic Character ULTRAMAN
Imagine if some movie came out called like Rat Ninjas. About rats that were irradiated and gained powers. And halfway through the trailer Mickey Mouse just totally shows up and fights alongside them. Or maybe the whole trailer is Mickey Mouse with the ninjas. But the movie wasn't made by Disney. Now you have an idea of the weirdness going on right now in Japan.
A trailer has been released for a film coming out called Dragon Force: So Long Ultraman. In the trailer, classic Japanese hero/robot Ultraman, is HEAVILY featured. Like old footage is shown, as well as new CGI of him and some other robots. You'd expect this must be made by the people who has the rights to Ultraman. But... no.
Tsuburaya Productions, who holds the rights to the character recently talked with AV Watch discussing this new movie, which it had no part in making.
Our company is not at all connecected. The motion picture in question was made without our consent or supervision.
This is crazy. The studio has stated that they plan to take legal action. I'm not sure exactly what this other studio was thinking, but man, it's got to be pretty stupid to try to get away with something like that. You can check out the trailer below. I can see why a company would try to sue for making this thing...
