New Concept Art For INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE

Earlier this week we got our first peek into what director Roland Emmerich is planning for Independence Day: Resurgence. There were some cool behind the scenes set photos showing off one of the ships that will play a role in the story called the Moon Tug. We now have a cool piece of concept art from the film thanks to Empire, which gives us a view from inside the ship. As you can see, there’s going to be lots of sci-fi mayhem.

Empire says this concept art shows the military piloting the craft through what was once a city. Roland explained to them:

"We call it in the film the War of '96. It’s like a post-World generation that’s unified, and that's amazing to see a world come together with a common enemy. That's a resurgence.
“The world is totally rebuilt. They had alien technology and anti-gravity, so they could rebuild quite fast. Imagine what we would do with alien technology and who would have it.”

The movie also stars Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, and Sela Ward. It's officially described as follows:

We always knew they were coming back. After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.

Independence Day: Resurgence is set to be released on June 24th, 2016.
