New Details For ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Reveal How CIVIL WAR Affected The Characters and Story

There's still a lot we don't know about the direction that director Peyton Reed is going to take Ant-Man and The Wasp, but I'm excited about it! I loved the first film, and I'm pretty sure this sequel is going to take things to a new level.

While talking about the movie with Empire, Peyton Reed opened up about the film. He revealed some details on the characters and how the events of Civil War will affect the story. When talking about Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), he said:

"The events of Captain America: Civil War gave us something clear, which is: what was Hank Pym and Hope Van Dyne's reaction to Scott having taken this technology out into the world in Civil War? We had a lot of fun playing around with that. And we play with size and scale a lot. I love the idea of Giant-Man."

I imagine that Hank (Michael Douglas) and Hope (Evangeline Lilly) aren't going to be very happy about taking the suit out to fight alongside Captain America. When talking about Hank, Payton revealed that his curiosity with the Quantum Realm has been reawakened:

"The events of Civil War, and how Scott reacted to that, have thrown a big wrench into the works. But his curiosity has been reawakened about the Quantum Realm and whether Janet's still alive down there."

When it comes to Janet Van Dyne's (Michelle Pfeiffer) role in the story, the director offers the following details:

"She's a very important character. It's fair to say if someone were to have spent thirtysomething years in the Quantum Realm and survived, it would have an effect. What did she eat? All she eats is cereal called Quantum Krispies."

Then, of course, there's Hope as The Wasp, and he teases that she will have a different fighting style than Ant-Man:

"This is really her coming out party as a hero. Her power set is fantastic. She and Scott both shrink, but there the flying, and the fighting style of The Wasp is different from Ant-Man's."

The movie also stars Michael Pena as Luis, David Dastmalchian as Kurt, T.I. as Dave, Randall Park as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Jimmy Woo, Hannah John-Kamen as the Ghost, and Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster.

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink: Ant-Man and The Wasp. In the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang (Rudd) grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne (Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas) with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.

Ant-Man and The Wasp will be released on July 6th, 2018.
