New Details on JUSTICE LEAGUE's Massive Budget, Reshoots, and Why it Has a Shorter Run Time

Some interesting new details have surfaced regarding the production of Justice League thanks to The Wall Street Journal. The report reveals details on the insane budget that the film ended up having, the reshoots shot by Joss Whedon, and an explanation of why the movie will have a shorter run time.

While talking about the big changes coming to the DC Films and how they will be handled from here on out, Warner Bros. studio president Toby Emmerich explained that they will be driven more by the visions of the directors and less about keeping things connected in a shared universe:

"We don’t want to limit the creativity filmmakers can bring to the table by saying these characters have to come in a particular order and all fit into the same universe."

It was previously revealed that DC Entertainment was rethinking their film strategy and they are obviously implementing those changes. Before that happens, though, we are going to get Justice League, which, as you know, has gone through a rough road of development.

There was a big last minute push to make the film "less serious and more hopeful." In the process of implementing this change with reshoots by Joss Whedon, the budget exploded to over $300 million dollars! That's pretty insane! In regards to the reshoots, studio insider explained, there were two tones in the movie. A light tone and a dark tone and they say, "A lot of the work was integrating the two tones and making it feel like one movie."

This budget led to Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara insisting that the film have a run time of under two hours. By having a shorter run time, theaters will be able to offer more screenings of the film. This will give the studio a chance to recoup the money that they spent on the film.

I'm sure the movie will end up making a good amount of money. I just hope that the movie will end up being great! I've enjoyed the footage that I've seen in the trailers and clips that have been released so I'm excited to see the movie.

As much as I'm looking forward to seeing Justice League, I'm a bit more excited to see how the upcoming solo superhero films turn out, like Aquaman, Shazam!, Batgirl, The Batman, and more.
