New Details on Kim Cattrall's Cameo in the Upcoming Season of HBO's SEX AND THE CITY Spinoff AND JUST LIKE THAT

Last week, it was announced that Kim Cattrall will be returning to play Samantha Jones in HBO’s Sex and the City spinoff series, And Just Like That. She famously did not return to the show, which premiered its first season in 2021. She seemingly didn’t want to have anything to do with the sequel series, but after an offscreen storyline, Cattrall agreed to make a cameo this season.

Series star Evan Handler, who plays Charlotte’s (Kristin Davis) husband Harry Goldenblatt, spoke to People (via THR) about Cattrall’s return, and it’s seemingly less of a reunion than fans were hoping for. When asked how he felt about it, Handler explained, “I think it is great. I do. Apparently, [her cameo] was shot in the garage somewhere with no contact with anybody, so the only place I have to welcome her is into my living room when it airs on television,” he joked.

Cattrall’s absence from the reboot was explained in the first season, which noted that Samantha moved to London after a falling out with Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker). The two eventually reconnected via text message and made plans to meet up and talk through what happened. It doesn’t sound like they’re meeting up in this next season, so I guess we will have to wait and see how the story is handled.

The show welcomes back Parker, Davis, and Cynthia Nixon in the starring roles, with Handler and Mario Cantone returning. Season 1 stars returning to the series also include Sarita Choudhury, Nicole Ari Parker, Sara Ramirez, and Karen Pittman. Candice Bergen, who played Carrie's editor Enid Frick on Sex and the City, will reprise her role in Season 2. Gloria Steinem and Sam Smith will guest star as themselves.

John Corbett will make his long-awaited return to the Sex and the City universe in a "substantial, multi-episode arc," which the first teaser confirms. Tony Danza will be joining Season 2 as himself, playing Che Diaz's (Ramirez) father on a sitcom.

Max has announced that the first two episodes of Season 2 will debut on June 22, with subsequent episodes dropping weekly on Thursdays. The season will consist of 11 episodes. Check out the teaser below, if you missed it, and let us know if you’ll be watching.
