New Details on the Future of Hulk and Scarlet Witch in the MCU
The Marvel news continues to roll in thanks to a press conference held for the film this past weekend. Thanks to some of the interviews that were conducted, we've been given a lot of information regarding the Marvel cinematic universe and where it's going.
We have some additional information to share with you that deals with the future of Hulk and Scarlet Witch, who both appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron. I will warn you, that this is SPOILER-filled information, so proceed at your own risk.
Yesterday, we reported that the reason why Hulk wasn't getting another solo film anytime soon is because Universal Pictures still holds the rights to the character. So it seems like they are going to have to be creative in finding new ways to keep him appearing in the MCU.
At the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, the Hulk is shot out into the atmosphere in a Quinjet. He's not in outer space, just kind of floating around between space and Earth. This means that the future of the Hulk could go two ways. He could crash land back on Earth or he could be taken out into deep space. According to Badass Digest, Marvel was considering bringing Hulk into Guardians of the Galaxy 2. They explain that since Marvel can't make a standalone Planet Hulk movie, they could use Guardians 2 as a way to "back door it." Apparently, this is something they were going to do if the first Guardians of the Galaxy bombed at the box office.
There's no official word on if that's the route they will take it, though. Mark Ruffalo admits that he doesn't know where the Hulk is going to end up, but he is open to a Planet Hulk movie if it happens. He did say in an interview with IGN that Hulk is going to space, and that "there's some talk of maybe Planet Hulk." So who knows where exactly he'll end up? But I think outer space might be a great option.
As for Scarlet Witch, it looks like the next time we'll see her after Age of Ultron will be in Captain America: Civil War, which is something that was previously rumored. In another interview with Badass Digest, we learn that a few of the shots meant for Captain Marvel in Age of Ultron went to Scarlet Witch, including her costume reveal at the end of the movie. Feige explains:
"The way we reveal Scarlet Witch [in costume] at the end of the movie? Those were Captain Marvel plate shots. Joss said, ‘We’ll cast her later!’ And I said, ‘Yeah Joss, we’ll cast her later.’ [Whispers to an invisible associate who isn't Joss] ‘We’re not putting her in there!’"
He then confirms that she will make the move to Civil War saying:
"Finally Joss was like ‘Let’s use those plates to let Scarlet Witch fly into frame, give her a big entrance?’ And that makes sense - she’s come to their side, and she deserves the cool intro, which will feed into another movie we start shooting in a few weeks."
The movie they start shooting in a few weeks is Captain America: Civil War. So there ya have it! There's no word on how big her role will be in the film, but she'll be there.
