New Details Regarding the Relationship of Jean Grey and Cyclops in X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX

The relationship between Jean Grey and Scott Summers a.k.a. Cyclops in the X-Men franchise has always been a big deal. Especially in the comic books. Their relationship has been handled fairly well in the film in the past, but what can we expect to see from them in director Simon Kinberg's X-Men: Dark Pheonix

The two characters will be played by Sophie Turner and Tye Sheridan. They were introduced into the franchise in last X-Men film that was released, X-Men: Apocalypse, but that film barely scratched the surface of these characters.

During a recent report from EW, we have some additional information on Cyclops' role in the story and where he's at in his relationship with Jean. The report says:

"The one mutant who never wavers from Team Jean is Scott (Tye Sheridan), a.k.a. Cyclops."

Simon Kinberg went on to say that keeping their story intact was extremely important to the filmmakers. He also explains that it's the emotional core of the film.

"That relationship, his being willing to kill or die for her, is a huge part of the emotional core of the movie. It also makes Scott start to have to become a leader."

That's good to hear! It seems like, at least, that part of the "Dark Phoenix Saga" story arc might get a faithful depiction. If your familiar with the story, you know that Cyclops has to pretty much fight his way across the galaxy in order to save Jean.

I also like the fact that we finally get to see Cyclops take a leadership position in this movie because that aspect of the character hasn't really been explored in the previous films. All the other X-Men movie seem to revolve more around Wolverine. Now that Wolverine isn't a part of it, this is Cyclops' time to shine.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix will be released on November 2nd. For more information on the film, click here to get caught up on the latest detsails!
