New Details Revealed For Disney's Upcoming Animated Film ENCANTO
We’ve got some new information to share with you regarding Disney’s upcoming animated film project, which is currently titled Encanto. That title could change between now and the time that the film will be released. In English, the title means charm.
The movie will be written and directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush both of which previously worked on Zootopia. As for the story, it’s said that the movie will center around a young Latinx girl and her family in Brazil. Everyone except for the young girl has magical powers.
Lin-Manuel Miranda (Mary Poppins Returns, Hamilton) has also been hired to write the music for the film and Clark Spencer (Ralph Breaks the Internet) and Yvett Merino Flores (Moana) have come on board to produce. Charise Castro Smith (The Haunting of Hill House) will also be co-writing the script with the directors.
Encanto becomes the third Disney animated film in the last five years to feature a woman of color as its lead character, following Moana (Polynesian) and the upcoming film Raya and the Last Dragon (Asian).
I always enjoy watching a good Disney film and I’m looking forward to seeing how this story ends up playing out.
