DC fans were excited to learn that they will finally get the chance to see Zack Snyder’s original cut of Justice League. The film will be released in HBO Max in 2021, and now we have some new information on the release to share with you thanks to the filmmaker.

THR reports that it’s unclear what form this version of the movie will take. They still have yet to decide if it will be an almost four-hour cut of the film, or if it will be split into six “chapters.” Regardless, the original post-production crew is being brought in to score the film, cut it, and add and finish the original visual effects.

Cast members are also coming back to reprise their roles. They will not be shooting new scenes, but they will be recording extra dialogue that will be included in the film.

One inside source says that the cost of finishing up this version of the film will be between $20 million - $30 million, but that's clearly a price Warner Bros. is willing to pay to make fans happy. They realized DC fans wanted to see this happen, and they gave them what they wanted.

Snyder put together a presentation back in February and invited a select group of executives from Warner Bros., HBO Max, and DC to his house to screen his version of the film to them. There were more than a dozen people in attendance including the head of the studio and the various departments such as Toby Emmerich and DC's Jim Lee. It’s also explained that the “heads of physical production and business affairs were there to assess what needed to be done and how much it would cost.”

After the screening, Snyder outlined the ideas he had for releasing his cut of the film but the concept he had of episodes and cliffhangers. “The executives left the meeting pumped.”

Snyder says that he’s never watched Joss Whedon’s version of the film, but says that his movie will be a whole different thing:

"It will be an entirely new thing, and, especially talking to those who have seen the released movie, a new experience apart from that movie. You probably saw one-fourth of what I did.”

"What’s so lovely about this is that we get to explore these characters in ways that you’re not able to in a shorter theatrical version."

The director went on to admit that he never believed this would happen:

"I always thought it was a thing that in 20 years, maybe somebody would do a documentary and I could lend them the footage, little snippets of a cut no one has ever seen.”

Snyder goes on to say that this wouldn’t have happened without the fans, "Clearly this wouldn’t be happening without them”, and added:

"This return to that pedigree and to let my singular vision of my movie be realized, in this format, in this length, is unprecedented and a brave move."

The guy is obviously super stoked that he is actually going to get to share his vision of Justice League with the world. There’s still a lot of work to be done, but this is a big win for Snyder and the fans.
