New Details Shared For Stephen King's SALEM'S LOT Movie and The Release Date Pushed Back

One of the most exciting things that I saw at CinemaCon this year was the first trailer for the upcoming film adaptation of Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot. That trailer has yet to be released, but damn… it looked like a great movie!

Lewis Pullman (Bad Times at the El Royale, Top Gun: Maverick) stars in the film, and he will take on the role of author Ben Mears, “a man who returns to his childhood home of Jerusalem’s Lot in search of inspiration for his next book only to discover his hometown is being preyed upon by a vampire, leading him to band together with a ragtag group that will fight the evil presence.”

We’ve now got a few new details to share with you, including the fact that the movie is “set circa 1975 (when King’s book was first published).” They also released the following synopsis: “Haunted by an incident from his childhood, author Ben Mears returns to his hometown of Jerusalem’s Lot in search of inspiration for his next book, only to discover the town is being preyed upon by a bloodthirsty vampire and his loyal servant.”

It was also announced that the release date of the film has been pushed back. The movie was originally supposed to be released on September 9th, 2022. Now we have to wait until April 21st, 2023, which sucks! Deadline explains that the delay is due to Covid-related issues in the post-production process.

The film is set up at New Line Cinema and it was written and directed by Gary Dauberman (It, The Nun, Annabelle Comes Home). The movie also stars Jordan Preston Carter as Mark Petrie, Alfre Woodard as Dr. Cody, Makenzie Leigh as Susan Norton, John Benjamin Hickey as Father Callahan, and William Sadler in an unannounced role.

I’ve been very excited about this movie, and I’m bummed out that we have to wait until next year to be able to watch it. You can watch our reaction video to the footage we saw here.
