New Details Revealed for the Upcoming STAR WARS Series ACOLYTE
There are several new Star Wars shows currently in development that fans have been curious about, and today we’ve got some new details to share on one of those shows that I’ve been curiously excited about. That show is Star Wars: Acolyte.
Acolyte has been described as “a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.” The High Republic is set 200 years before the Skywalker Saga begins.
The project comes from showrunner Leslye Headland, and she said in a recent interview with Vanity Fair that a lot of the characters from the prequel trilogy “haven't even been born yet.” She went on to share some additional details saying:
"We're taking a look at the political and personal and spiritual things that came up in a time period that we don't know much about. My question when watching The Phantom Menace was always like, 'Well, how did things get to this point?' How did we get to a point where a Sith lord can infiltrate the Senate and none of the Jedi pick up on it? Like, what went wrong? What are the scenarios that led us to this moment?"
She went on to explain that the show takes place in a bright era for the galaxy, saying:
"We actually use the term the Renaissance, or the Age of Enlightenment. The Jedi uniforms are gold and white, and it's almost like they would never get dirty. They would never be out and about. The idea is that they could have these types of uniforms because that's how little they're getting into skirmishes."
The series stars Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give), and it sounds like it will tell an interesting story! I’m especially curious about the era that it’s set in.
