New Documentary Will Explore What Really Happened To G4TV and ATTACK OF THE SHOW
There’s a new documentary in development called Attack of the Doc and it will explore what really happened to G4TV and the hit geek show Attack of the Show. A Kickstarter was recently launched for the doc and its main purpose is to answer the question, “Whatever happened to G4TV and Attack of the Show?”
I enjoyed watching Attack of the Show and even had some friends that worked on it. It was a pop culture television network and variety program, respectively that provided commentary, news, reviews, and previews about tech and pop culture media of all kinds. The show helped launch the careers of Olivia Munn, Kevin Pereira, and other on-air talents.
Attack of the Doc will “explore the rise and fall of the hit show, all while examining its larger impact on the internet, TV, and pop culture landscapes. The documentary, directed by Chris Gore – a former on-air personality for AOTS, will provide a peek behind the curtain and show off exclusive, never-before-seen footage, as well as brand new interviews with the cast, crew, and creators as they reminisce about their time on the show.”
If you want to help back the show on Kickstarter, you will have the opportunity to submit your own questions to be asked during the interviews as part of what the filmmakers are calling, “a large-scale, collaborative effort to make something by fans, for the fans”.
Backers will also gain access to an exclusive podcast that includes all of the documentary’s “uncensored, uncut interviews with the cast and crew as they share stories about the creation, production, and cancellation of the pop culture variety show.”
The doc is being directed by Chris Gore, who says: “I go to a lot of Comic-Cons, and it’s the question I get all the time. I didn’t realize [Attack of the Show] meant so much to so many people. Fans really
want to know what happened to it, and I feel like it isn’t an accident that they miss it more now than ever. I think it’s about time we answer some questions about where the show went. This documentary will help with that. I appeared weekly on Attack of the Show! where I did the DVDuesday segment. While I was part of the team, I was also a fan of the show. I watched every episode and enjoyed it as much as you did. And frankly, I want answers too.”
After all these years, I didn’t realize anyone even talked about Attack of the Show anymore. But, this doc is definitely going to start those conversations back up again.
