New E.T. Board Game Challenges Players To Save The Alien Before He Dies

There’s a new board game coming out this year that is based on Steven Spielberg’s classic 80s sci-fi film E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial. The game is a co-op adventure in which players have to get E.T. back on his spaceship before his "heartlight" fades… and dies. You know, just like in the movie!

The game is titled E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial: Light Years From Home, and here’s the description of the game:

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial: Light Years From Home is a cooperative game that re-creates the film’s iconic bicycle chase scene. Players As players have come to expect from Funko Games, this game features a beautifully illustrated board, components, and miniatures – including a charming miniature E.T. that fits inside the kids’ bicycle basket.

The game allows you to play as Elliot, Gertie, Mike, or Greg “as they try to find parts for E.T. to create a communication device to contact his home planet. You race around the neighborhood using ramps and shortcuts to avoid federal agents bent on capturing E.T. To win, you must find all the parts of the device and get E.T. to the clearing when the mothership arrives to pick him up.”

The E.T. board game has been designed by Prospero Hall (Disney Villainous and Horrified) and it’s explained that the game should only last around 30 minutes.

The game will be released in conjunction with the film's 40th anniversary. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial: Light Years From Home accommodates up to four people and will cost $29.99. It looks like it could be fun!
