New Featurette for CATS Takes a Look Inside the Creepiest Film of 2019

When the first trailer hit for the feature film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic Broadway musical Cats, the people who watched it were like… “WTF!?”

It certainly has a very strange visual look and style to it and comes off as being super creepy. Having grown up with a dad who is a professional singer, musicals are something that I’m used to and I actually really enjoyed the music of Cats. But the way it’s presented on both stage and film is super weird.

We have a new featurette to share with you today that takes you behind-the-scenes of what is sure to be one of the creepiest films of 2019. It features interviews with the cast and crew as well as new footage of the CGI cats running around.

Cats was adapted for the big screen by Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech, Les Misérables), and the film has an incredible ensemble cast that includes James Corden, Judi Dench, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen, Taylor Swift, and Rebel Wilson and introduces Royal Ballet principal dancer Francesca Hayward in her feature film debut.

The musical tells the story of a tribe of cats called the Jellicles and the night they make what is known as "the Jellicle choice" and decide which cat will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life. The story is actually pretty insane and silly. But hey, it was created in the ‘80s when everyone was doing cocaine and you can tell.

The screenplay for the film was written by Lee Hall (Billy Elliot). Cats opens in theaters December 20, 2019.
