New Featurette For DOCTOR SLEEP Focuses on Danny Torrance's Journey and Features New Footage

Warner Bros. has released a new featurette for you to watch for the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep, which is a sequel to The Shining. This featurette previously screened during the 4K theatrical release of The Shining. It focuses on Danny Torrance’s journey and also includes new footage that hasn’t been shown in any of the trailers that have been released.

Doctor Sleep comes from director Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House) and the film continues the story of Danny Torrance, 40 years after his terrifying stay at the Overlook Hotel where his dad died trying to kill him. The film adapts King’s novel but also has been reworked to fit Stanely Kubrick’s classic film as well.

Danny’s experience at the Overlook Hotel still haunts him after all these years and it has affected his life hard psychological way. He’s pretty messed up from it, and this featurette dives into this aspect of the character and what he needs to do to find his way out of that dark hole. The movie stars Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson, and newcomer Kyliegh Curran. The synopsis reads:

Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the “shine.” Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality.

Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra’s innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before—at once facing his fears and reawakening the ghosts of the past.

McGregor takes on the role of Dan Torrance, Ferguson plays Rose the Hat, and Curran, in her major feature film debut, as Abra. The ensemble cast also includes Carl Lumbly, Zahn McClarnon, Emily Alyn Lind, Bruce Greenwood, Jocelin Donahue, Alex Essoe, and Cliff Curtis.

Doctor Sleep is slated for release on November 8th, 2019
