New Featurette For FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE SECRETS OF DUMBLEDORE Offers Interesting New Story Details
Warner Bros. has released a new featurette for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. It’s titled “Unlocking Dumbledore’s Past,” and it offers a behind-the-scenes look at what went into telling a story about Albus Dumbledore, who is one of the most interesting characters in the wizarding world. It also offers some interesting new details and shows off some more footage.
Jude Law plays a younger version of the character in a time when he finds himself facing off with Gellert Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen) as he attempts to tear the world apart. The two are old friends who have a complicated relationship. Producer David Hayman explains: “Dumbledore is filled with regret because of the relationship they had that led Grindelwald on a dark path.”
The featurette explains that Dumbledore and Grindelwald made this bond as young men and made a pact through a blood troth. Those who carry it can not go into a physical fight with the opponent. So there’s no way that Grindelwald can get into a fight with Dumbledore, which certainly makes things interesting.
In the story, Dumbledore calls on Magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and a team of brave individuals to prevent Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers and stop a looming wizarding world war. Their goal is to take down the most dangerous wizard in over a century.
The synopsis for the movie reads:
Professor Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) knows the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen) is moving to seize control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches and one brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission, where they encounter old and new beasts and clash with Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers. But with the stakes so high, how long can Dumbledore remain on the sidelines?
The film's cast also includes Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Callum Turner, Jessica Williams, and Katherine Waterston.
J.K. Rowling’s frequent collaborator and Harry Potter franchise writer Steve Kloves co-wrote the script, and Harry Potter veteran David Yates returned to helm the new movie.
