New Featurette for NOPE Puts the Focus on Shooting the Sci-Fi Horror Film in IMAX
Universal Pictures released yet another featurette for director Jordan Peele’s upcoming sci-fi horror film Nope. This one puts a focus on Peele and cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema shooting the film using IMAX technology.
In the video, Peele describes the film as his most ambitious project to date in terms of its large-scale and elaborate filmmaking. Meanwhile, Hoytema reveals how exhilarating it is for him to bring Peele’s incredible vision to life.
Nope is described as a “new pop nightmare” and “expansive horror epic.” The story centers on a brother and sister, played by Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer, who run a horse training ranch for Hollywood productions in a lonely gulch of inland California.
They bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery as UFOs are seen flying around. One of the plot points is that these characters use the opportunity of this alien invasion to get rich and famous by getting the UFO on film, “the money shot.”
The movie also stars Steven Yeun (Minari, Okja), Michael Wincott (Hitchcock, Westworld), and Brandon Perea (The OA, American Insurrection). The film will be released by Universal Pictures and will be released in theaters on July 22nd.
