New Featurette For Peter Jackson's MORTAL ENGINES Focuses on Giant Moving Cities

There are a lot of things that make producer Peter Jackson’s new film different from anything else we’ve seen, but those giant moving cities that are roaming the Earth definitely gives the film a unique flavor and I like it!

We’ve got a new featurette for you to watch today that puts the spotlight on those giant cities and how they function in this world as well as how they were created. On top of showing off new footage, the video also features interviews with member of the cast and crew.

As Jackson says in the video, the movie will give audiences something that they’ve genuinely never seen before.

The film comes from director Christian Rivers from a script co-written by Jackson himself and Philippa Boyens. The movie is based on the British series of novels by Philip Reeve and this is the synopsis:

Thousands of years after civilization was destroyed by a cataclysmic event, humankind has adapted and a new way of living has evolved. Gigantic moving cities now roam the Earth, ruthlessly preying upon smaller traction towns. Tom Natsworthy (Robert Sheehan)—who hails from a Lower Tier of the great traction city of London—finds himself fighting for his own survival after he encounters the dangerous fugitive Hester Shaw (Hera Hilmar). Two opposites, whose paths should never have crossed, forge an unlikely alliance that is destined to change the course of the future.

The cast for the film also includes Hugo Weaving, Hera Hilmar, Robbie Sheehan (Geostorm), South Korean singer and actress Jihae (Mars), Ronan Raftery (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Leila George (Mother, May I Sleep With Danger?), Patrick Malahide (Game of Thrones) and Stephen Lang (Avatar).

Mortal Engines will hit theaters on December 14th.
