New Featurette For TOLKIEN Highlights The Legendary Author's Influence
It seems like a lot of Middle Earth fans are looking forward to seeing the upcoming film Tolkien, which is based on the life of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit author J.R.R. Tolkien. The film takes a deep dive into the life of the legendary author and the things that happened to him that inspired him to create Middle Earth and tell all of the wonderful stories that fill it.
Today we have a behind-the-scenes featurette for the film for you to watch and it puts a focus on Tolkien’s influence on the lives of Nicholas Hoult and Lily Collins, who star in the film. If you’re a fan of Tolkien, I’m sure you’d be able to relate with what they are saying. The video also features new footage from the film as well.
Hoult takes on the role of Tolkien, and the movie looks like an intense and inspiring journey. As a longtime fan of Tolkien’s work, this is a movie that I’m very much looking forward to watching.
The movie will explore "the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a fellow group of outcasts at school. This takes him into the outbreak of World War I, which threatens to tear the 'fellowship' apart. All of these experiences would inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-Earth novels."
The movie also stars Collins as Edith, Tolkien’s wife, as well as Colm Meaney, Anthony Boyle, Patrick Gibson, Tom Glynn-Carney, Craig Roberts, Laura Donnelly, Genevieve O’Reilly, Pam Ferris, and Derek Jacobi.
Tolkien was directed by Dome Karukoski from a script written by David Gleeson and Stephen Beresford, and it will be released in theaters on May 1st.
