New GHOSTBUSTERS Names Revealed

know you've all been dying to know what the names of the new Ghostbusters will be in Paul Feig's reboot. The director previously revealed the proton packs and the four main actresses — Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones  — all decked out in their ghost-busting gear with the Ecto-1 as seen above.

Over the weekend Feig revealed the names of the characters on Twitter:

He didn't say which actress is playing who, but it doesn't really matter because we know from the name tags that the actresses are wearing in the photos that we've seen.

McCarthy is Abby Yates, Wiig is Erin Gilbert, McKinnon is Jillian Holtzmann, and Jones is Patty Tolan.

Some people have been trying to match these characters up with the original Ghostbusters, which I think is silly because this new movie is in no way connected to that original movie. These new characters will stand on their own and they will not have the same characteristics.

As for the rest of the cast, Andy Garcia is the mayor of New York City, Michael K. Williams is playing a character named Hawkins, Matt Walsh is taking on a role named Rourke, Chris Hemsworth is the Ghostbusters secretary, and Saturday Night Live writer Neil Casey is the film’s villain. It was also confirmed that Dan Ayrkoyd will have a cameo.

I think Feig has the talent to make great comedies. I love what he did with the action comedy Spy. That movie was freakin' hilarious. I know he has the ability to make a good flick, I just wish it wasn't a Ghostbusters reboot.

Ghostbusters arrives next summer on July 22nd, 2016.
