Warner Bros. has shared a new featurette for Godzilla Vs. Kong, and it explains that there are two groups of people in the film. There’s a team of people who are on Godzilla’s side and another team that is supporting King Kong. Each team is invested in one of the monstrous titans for different reasons.

It’s explained that team Godzilla and team Kong are two separate stories in the film that intersect. Director Adam Wingard says that each human story in the film is following the monsters story. Team Kong is there to support Kong and his fight with Godzilla, Team Godzilla is trying to figure out why Godzilla is attacking.

The featurette also offers up some cool new footage from the film for you to enjoy.

Here’s the synopsis for the film:

In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.

As the gigantic Kong meets the unstoppable Godzilla, the world watches to see which one of them will become King of the Monsters.

It’s been explained by the director that one of the two will win. I have a feeling that it will end up being Kong because he’s kind of the underdog and it’s always fun to root for the underdog. There are also going to be other monsters that appear in the film including Mechagodzilla!

The film stars Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta), Rebecca Hall (Iron Man 3), Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2), Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead), Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist), Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood), Shun Oguri (Gintama), Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver), Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), Demian Bichir (The Nun), Van Marten (The Walking Dead), and Zhang Ziyi (Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon).

Godzilla Vs. Kong is set to hit theaters and HBO Max simultaneously on May 21, 2021.
