New Image For Zack Snyder's ARMY OF THE DEAD and Dave Bautista Shares Why He Joined

Thanks to Empire we have a new image to share with you from Zack Snyder’s upcoming zombie heist movie, Army of the Dead. The film’s star, Dave Bautista, also talks bout his love of zombie films and why he ended up joining this film project.

The movie is being produced for Netflix, and the story follows a group of mercenaries into a zombie-infested Las Vegas as they try to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted. It’s set amid “a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, during which a man assembles a group of mercenaries to take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantined zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted.“

During the interview, Bautista revealed that he tried to get on The Walking Dead as a zombie for years, saying, “I’m a zombie fan. I tried to get on Walking Dead for years. I said I would come and play a zombie for free, but they said, ‘You’re too big!’”

Then Snyder’s Army of the Dead came along, and when talking about why he joined the film, he said, “For me, there had to be something special about a zombie film for me to sign up. What sets us apart is the heist. But there’s a whole bunch of different layers to this film.” He even turned down James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad to be in the movie. That’s how excited he was about it.

I love the concept of a zombie heist movie and I’m excited to see how Snyder’s film turns out. Hopefully, we get to see a trailer soon!

The cast for the film also includes Ella Purnell, Ana De La Reguera, Theo Rossi, Huma Qureshi, Omari Hardwick, Tig Notaro, Hiroyuki Sanada, Garret Dillahunt, Matthias Schweighöfer, Raúl Castillo, Nora Arnezeder, and Samantha Win.

Army of the Dead will be released on Netflix sometime in 2021.
