New INDIANA JONES 5 Photos and Harrison Ford Says "It’s Full of Adventure, Laughs, and Real Emotion"
Lucasfilm has shared two new photos from director James Mangold and producer Steven Spielberg’s Indiana Jones 5. The photos feature Harrison Ford back as Indy and back in action! Ford may be 80 years old, but that’s not going to stop him from going on one final amazing adventure!
The photos were released in Empire Magazine and Ford talked about the next chapter in Indy’s story, saying:
“It’s full of adventure, full of laughs, full of real emotion. And it’s complex and it’s sneaky. The shooting of it was tough and long and arduous. But I’m very happy with the film that we have.”
That’s awesome to hear! As a longtime fan of this character, I hope that Ford ends his time in the role with a great movie! I always thought that Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was a perfect ending for Indiana Jones. It was a truly great film and I would love it if this next film turned out just as good, but that’s going to be hard to pull off. Ford went on to say:
“I just thought it would be nice to see one where Indiana Jones was at the end of his journey. If a script came along that I felt gave me a way to extend the character.”
It looks like he got that script from screenwriters Jez and John-Henry Butterworth, who wrote it alongside director James Mangold, who said:
“It became really important to me to figure out how to make this a movie about a hero at sunset. The issues I brought up about Indy’s age were not things I thought were being addressed in the material being developed at the time. There were ‘old’ jokes, but the material itself wasn’t about it. To me, whatever your greatest liability, you should fly straight towards that. If you try to pretend it’s not there, you end up getting slings and arrows the whole way.”
I really hope that Mangold Spielberg and their team actually managed to pull this off and actually deliver a movie that fans will love, enjoy, and be proud of.
Indiana Jones 5 will be released on June 30th, 2023. You can check out a couple of previously released magazine covers below.
